This week I selected someone for coaching who is dealing with debilitating perfectionism, which is getting in the way in her career and current job search.
But I didn’t coach Iyla (not her real name) on any of that, because the key struggle in her email was about the process of change itself—that grind of identifying your mental patterns, feeling like they’re ingrained about as deep as the Grand Canyon, and not being able to envision that you’ll ever get free.
I explain exactly why our brains interpret the process of change this way and share some quick, effective practices I recommend for Iyla and anyone else in this boat. What we need most in these moments is a different perspective on where we are in the process, and that’s what this video is all about.
